Redditors love memes because they reinforce their idealistic liberal dogmas. Initially memes were legit and comedic only but they quickly became the feel-good amalgam of cope we have today. The world is attacking the redditors copes every day with harsh realities; the site is a barrier, a safe place, an impediment to oppositional views which the bleeding hearts stop at nothing to protect. Even if it means to shun an entire community and harass them like the very bullies they denigrate.
