And that in itself is a social construct. It's absolutely normal biological and evolutionary behavior. You see it all the time in the animal kingdom. There was a time where it was indeed acceptable/unquestionable behavior amongst the Homo Sapiens species.
TLDR: Both terminologies are just basic social constructs.
